The Artist

Raili Jänese creates art characterized by repetitive, simplified postures and vibrant color palettes, that are brought to life on paper, wood, and canvas. She explores both animal and human behavior in her works. Curiosity about urban wildlife has inspired multiple series and public art projects that showcase wild species from cities and suburban areas.

The pandemic has influenced her recent focus on human characters, with her latest paintings delving into themes of social formulas, self-care, and daily scenes. Her works invite you to see the extraordinary in the everyday, transforming mundane moments into the joyful tapestry of human interaction with life's little quirks.

Everyday Lives Unfold explores the quiet poetry of daily life through her exuberant figurative artwork. Drawing from intimate, often overlooked moments. The title holds layered meaning: elu translates to “life” in her native Estonian, while its pronunciation echoes ilu, meaning “beauty”, a reflection of her deep appreciation for the grace found in the ordinary.
